Deplorable state of the Inanam Market – A Potential Haven for Water Borne Diseases Affecting Traders.

Dr Roland Chia
PKR Candidate for N13 Inanam

PKR Candidate for N13 Inanam – Dr Roland Chia Ming Shen who is also PKR National Supreme Council member cum PKR Sabah Secretary has received many complaints against the authorities for their failure in properly managing one of the markets in the city i.e. the Inanam Market. How could this happened since the rating area comes under the capital city of Kota Kinabalu? A group of traders lamented to Dr Roland Chia.
Look at the deplorable state of the market– uneven, water clogged and filthy  pavement of the market. Such deplorable state can lead to water borne diseases and it will be an occupational hazard to all traders who have to face these deplorable situation everyday. Traders & Patrons had to bear with this since its inception way back in 2009 or even earlier. This should not happened after 50 years of BN rule. As a result, the Traders are hoping for Change for a better business environment.
PKR /PR will pledge for a clean , well maintained and business friendly environment for the Inanam Market once elected into power. We will ensure Inanam Market will be turned into a tourist destination whereby tourists locally and abroad can come and enjoy the diversity of products that are being sold in the market. This directly will capitulate  Inanam town into one of the tourists attraction in the west coast of Sabah.

After 50 years of independence - Malaysians fighting losing battle with household debts despite increase of household income & red

PKR National Supreme Council Member cum PKR Sabah Secretary – Dr Roland Chia is saddened by the brutal fact that Malaysians are losing the battle with household debts. It is a fact that Malaysians have a high household debt of 76% of Gross domestic product (GDP) .If this dangerous trends were to continue , should there be an economic slowdown or recession, many Malaysian households would be hit and the impact on financial institution would be devastating also. Despite the Household Income Survey 2012 shows that there is reduction of poverty rate and increase of household income for the average Malaysians, Malaysians are still finding hard to cope with spiraling cost of living ,  increase in debt and lack of disposable income to spend on.
Dr.Chia
According to Bank Negara, household loans for residential properties in January 2013 jumped 42.4% compared to decline of 0.3% in December 2012. Credit card debt, which had been declining from October to December 2012 rose by 28.6% in January 2013. The escalating property prices throughout the country Malaysia have also resulted in Malaysians have to take out higher loans. Another alarming fact is  that personal loans which went up by 73.4% in January 2013 against a decline of 2.9%. Malaysians have also borrowed heavily to buy securities as loans – it was recorded a rise by 85.1% compared to 10.7% in December.
On a consumer point of view, many Malaysians spend more that they earn .The sad truth is also that now Malaysians are trapped in increasing debt as reflected in higher personal loan and credit card debt. Many have already turned to illegal money lenders or pawnshops. Rising of car and property prices must be contained as for a typical household, loan repayment for a car and home can swallow 50% of a borrower’s monthly wage. Prices of homes and cars are rising faster than income levels. A long term solution must be found before the household debt burden on the economy becomes untenable. These should not have happened to Malaysians given the fact that our country is rich with vast resources of oil, gas, timber, palm oil and vast parcel of land with just 28 million of Malaysians. Finally, the rakyat must resolve to do much soul searching- after 50 years of independence in this forthcoming 13th General Election in Sabah & Malaysia through the ballot box.

Fire outbreak at Taman Chemei Commercial Shophouses, Lido Penampang

PKR Sabah – In depth Investigation Urgently  Needed by Local  Authorities on  fire outbreaks in Kapayan .
PKR Sabah Secretary  - Dr Roland Chia urged the local authorities to conduct an in depth study and investigation on the root cause of the recent fire outbreaks, the most recent ones was this morning in Lido, Taman Chemei Commercial Shophouses along Jalan Penampang.
PKR Sabah has highlighted and urged the authorities to investigate since October last year 2012. So far there was no new guidelines and advisory notice released by the authorities. Dr Roland Chia was making this plea while visiting the site of the fire outbreak. Dr Roland Chia was also relieved that nobody was seriously hurt and the damaged was confined to a ground floor shoplot without affecting the adjacent business of the neighbouring shoplots.
Nevetheless – Dr Roland Chia commended the swift action by BOMBA in arriving at the destination upon receiving alert calls although victims waited for more than half hour, mainly due to traffic jam from the morning rush hour. An earlier arrival may have reduce the damaged caused by the fire. It was disclosed by bystanders that the fire started by sparks from the existing electrical wiring connected to the shop. Therefore - Dr Roland Chia advised shop owners to conduct regular maintenance especially older commercial and housing lots, where by old electrical wirings could well be the root cause of recent fire outbreaks.
